but I know that I’ll be better today than I was yesterday.
CHALLENGES
Implementing scalable processes and wearing a lot of hats. But that’s half the fun of it, right?!

Providing cybersecurity awareness training to the Navy Special Warfare Group:
Scraping websites and social media to identify warfighters and gather intel on missions and personnel. Using image recognition and Exif data of photos to look for camouflaged warfighters, geographic icons, and reveal their locations. Catfishing personnel in order to extort money or information. Using psychological warfare to lower morale, socially engineer, or sway people to their side. These are just some of the methods our adversaries employ to gain tactical advantages. Unfortunately, personal digital defense strategies are not a typical part of military training. Until now.
Recently, Ross Williams, the Digital Forensics Incident Response Manager at CRITICALSTART, provided Cybersecurity Awareness Training to members and support staff of the Navy Special Warfare Group (NSWG) to help them understand the landscape of digital warfare and learn ways to minimize their digital exposure.
Ross Williams
Digital Forensics Incident Response Manager
Ross’ training included lessons on protecting data like e-mails, and financial records to prevent extortion, using secure methods like Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to communicate with military personnel and family members, and ensuring that social media activity doesn’t provide adversaries information to build psychological profiles or, worse, reveal useful information like locations and schedules.
Digital warfare is a real threat to the country’s security, and CRITICALSTART could not be prouder to employ former service members like Ross who are more than willing to share their time and expertise to educate our military and their families on cybersecurity safety.
CRITICALSTART employs professionals at all levels who once served in the military so giving back to our country’s veterans is a cause close to our hearts. We are proud to share our employee’s expertise in cybersecurity to educate others in our community.
CRITICALSTART has upgraded our hiring process. We now use the Predictive Index (PI) to identify how you work. Through PI, we learn how you like to communicate and collaborate so we can build a team that’s more fun and more effective.
Majority of CRITICALSTART Employees say they would recommend the company to someone they know.
CRITICALSTART employees are satisfied with the company culture that is defined by a strong set of values.
Whether in or out of the workplace, our employees are living their best life.
